Privacy Policy

What Pact Does

Pact is a screen time accountability app. You block distracting apps on your own device and optionally pair with a friend who can approve unlock requests. Everything is self-initiated.

What We Collect

• Email address — for account creation via Firebase Authentication.
• Display name — shown to your accountability partner so they know who's requesting.
• Partner pairing ID — to connect you with your chosen accountability partner.
• Unlock request status — whether a request is pending, approved, or denied.
• Streak data — your current and best streak counts.
• Push notification token — so we can notify you when your partner sends a request.

What We Never Collect

This is important:

• 🚫 We never see which apps you block. Apple's Screen Time API uses opaque, encrypted tokens. We literally cannot access app names, bundle IDs, or icons on our servers.
• 🚫 We do not track how long you use any app.
• 🚫 We do not take screenshots or screen recordings.
• 🚫 We do not collect browsing history.
• 🚫 We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.

Where Your Data Lives

Account and pairing data is stored in Google Firebase (United States). Your blocked app selections are stored only on your device — they never leave your phone.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete your account directly within the app. When you delete your account, all your data — profile, partner connections, unlock history, and streak records — is permanently removed from our servers. Nothing is retained.

Third-Party Services

We use the following Google Firebase services:

• Firebase Authentication — sign-in
• Cloud Firestore — data storage
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications

These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Children

Pact is designed for adults managing their own screen time. It is not intended for children under 13. We do not use parental controls or Family Sharing features.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated date.
